Judges

Trevor Stojanovich – Percussion and GE

Judging History (WGI, DCI, High School Circuits etc)

Trevor has spent several years working as a clinician with middle school and high school bands. This will be his first time judging for the Idaho Indoor Circuit.
 

Education or Certifications (Formal Certifications or Degrees, Type NA if not applicable)

Trevor holds a Bachelors of Music Education from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
 

Performance/Teaching or Specialty Experience (WGI, DCI, College etc)

Trevor’s DCI performance experience includes Gold Drum & Bugle Corps (2012-2013), The Academy (2014-2015), and The Blue Devils (2016-2017). As an educator, Trevor have been a visual instructor for the Sacramento Mandarins, Gold Drum & Bugle Corps, Pacific Crest, and has recently become the visual caption head with the Blue Knights for 2024. Trevor’s WGI performance experience includes Vegas Vanguard (2015), and Vessel Indoor Percussion (2019). As an educator, Trevor was the founder and director of sage V Percussion from Las Vegas, Nevada for the 2020 and 2021 seasons. As a student, Trevor performed with the UNLV Wind Orchestra as well as the Jazz II Ensemble. Currently, Trevor is in his 5th year as a band director. His first 4 years were spent as Director of Bands at Silverado High School in Las Vegas, Nevada, and he is currently Assistant Director of Bands at Manor Senior High School in Manor, Texas.
 

General Information (Personal/Work/Hobbies)

Outside of teaching, Trevor is a visual designer and choreographer for marching bands and indoor percussion ensembles around the country. Trevor also enjoys spending his free time taking care of his dog, Indy.

Katie A Ponozzo – Judging Movement

Judging History (WGI, DCI, High School Circuits etc)

This is Katie’s second year judging for the Idaho Indoor Circuit. Previously she has judged many dance competitions and auditions in the both the public and private sections of dance.

Katie was born and raised in northern Idaho, and studied dance at the University of Idaho with Festival Dance Academy. After moving to Boise to attend Boise State University, Katie spent two years performing with Idaho Dance Theatre, one year with Stampede Spirit Dancers and two seasons with Drop Dance Collective. She currently dances and choreographs for Off Center Dance and became artistic director in the fall of 2016. Katie has been teaching ballet at Boise State University since 2006. In the past she directed the high school dance department at Idaho Fine Arts Academy, a public arts school in Meridian, ID. She also spent four years teaching ballet, jazz and rhythmic skills at The College of Idaho. Along with performing and teaching dance Katie also performs aerial silks and flying trapeze. She also teaches aerial silks and flying trapeze at various companies in Boise. Katie was the 2012 recipient of the independent artist grant from Idaho Commission on the arts for her dance piece “Ball Change”. Katie graduated from Boise State University where she earned a BA in Theatre with dance emphasis, Cum Laude.

Dan Smith – from Santa Clara, California Judging General Effect

Mr. Dan Smith (a long-time Music Educator) – holds a BA from San Jose’ State University an MA from the University of Northern Colorado.

He is nationally known as an Arranger, Visual Designer, Clinician, Instructor, and as a Band Director – with his own Bands having performed a number of times in such nationally-televised events as the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade, the Fiesta Bowl, Orange Bowl in Miami, and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. It was during his tenure as Director of Bands that his Independence High School 76th Cavalry Band from San Jose’, California won the 1981 Bands of America National Championship.

Mr. Smith has now been involved as a Performer in Music & Pageantry for over 60 years, and has over 55 years experience as an Adjudicator & Adjudication Administrator for Music Festivals and Pageantry Competitions throughout the United States & Canada (including the World Championships for both DCI & WGI). He is a co-founder of the Western Band Association. And he is the Music Caption Chair for California State Band Championships.

After serving over 25 years as Manager of the Ohlone College Bands, and the last ten years as the Music Department Coordinator at Ohlone College in Fremont, California, Mr. Smith has retired as of the end of September 2023. He continues to be an active performer on French Horn & Tenor Horn in several major Bay Area music ensembles. He is a Charter Member of the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum & Bugle Corps and former Instructor of SCV, Vanguard Cadets and SCV Winter Guard. He performed as French Horn Section Leader of the SCV Alumni Corps from 1997 through the 50th Anniversary of SCV in 2017. In recent years was inducted into both the Santa Clara Vanguard Hall of Fame and the National Buglers Hall of Fame. And in April 2023 he was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the California Color Guard Circuit.

Mr. Smith is a US Air Force Veteran and a proud father and grandfather, with one of his sons recently retired after serving 20 years in the US Navy, his other son just retired after 23 years in the US Air Force, and his daughter-in-law currently serving in the US Air Force, with her 20-year retirement coming in April 2024.

Daniel Eger – Judging Guard Equipment

Daniel Eger is originally from Olean, N.Y. and has been in Florida most of his life. He attended Seminole High School and was in their Wind Ensemble and Marching Band for four years and was in the winter guard. He then attended St. Petersburg College to start his Music Education Degree, after that, pursuing Music Education at The Florida State University, and Interior Design with International Academy of Design and Technology. Daniel has been designing winter guard shows, uniforms, floors and flags, marching band shows and set designs for musicals since 1994. He is currently employed full time as a Facilities Project Manager Designer for the University of South Florida. Although he has many passions for different types of design, he still finds time to perform with Hollingsworth Winds, Tampa Bay Symphonic Winds, Tampa Bay Symphony and the Heralds of Harmony from time to time, keeping up with musical talents and repertoire. Before age outs were eliminated from World Class guards, Daniel performed with Seminole High School, Florida State Winterguard and Shaktai Performance Company.  

Daniel is a member of the Florida Federation of Judges Association. With a background in colorguard and music, he has judged winterguard, winter percussion and winds in the Florida Federation of Color Guards Circuit, the North Texas Colorguard Association, Tennessee State Marching Band Competition, Mid Continent Color Guard Association, West Texas Color Guard Circuit, Michigan Color Guard Circuit, Carolina Winter Ensemble Association, New Mexico Pageantry of Bands Competition, Florida Marching Band Coalition, Atlantic Indoor Association, Texas Color Guard Circuit, Connecting Individuals Through Performing Arts, Texas Educational Color Guard Circuit, New York State Field Band Conference, Ohio Indoor Performance Association, Heartlands Winter Arts Association, Atlantic Indoor Association, and the Florida Bandmasters Association.
